Oral Health | To Improve Your Dental Health, Try These Foods – Part 2

In our last blog article, we introduced 3 foods that would help boost your oral health. These foods will help you maintain the best oral health possible in between your visits to our office. Of course, along with having a healthy diet, brushing, flossing, and using mouthwash as directed are imperative in keeping your teeth and mouth healthy.

Below, we continue our discussion on foods that will boost your oral health. Our team also offers a few drinks that can help to improve the health of your teeth!

Food

Cheese:

Similar to yogurt, cheese is an excellent provider of calcium and casein. In addition to this, cheese does not contain much sugar or acid. Combining these two things means that cheese can help to strengthen your teeth.

Sugar-Free Gum:

Okay, this one really isn’t a food, but, nonetheless, sugar-free gum can be beneficial to your oral health. One thing to always look for in sugar-free gum is Xylitol. Xylitol is a sugar substitute that actually works more as an anti-sugar than anything else. Additionally, chewing gum stimulates your saliva production and will help keep those cavities from forming!

Celery:

Celery offers two major advantages to your oral health. First off, celery is extremely chewy so it will assist you in creating saliva (noticing a theme here?). Secondly, celery, due to its fibrous strands, can actually help to clean your teeth as you eat it.

Drinks

Milk:

It isn’t just your bones that can benefit from drinking milk—your teeth and mouth can, also! Similar to eating cheese or yogurt, milk is a provider of calcium. Calcium will help keep your teeth strong, fight periodontal disease and also keep your jaw bone, the anchors of your teeth, healthy!

Stay tuned for our next blog article where we will discuss several foods and beverages that are detrimental to your oral health.
