These allergies are mostly caused by materials that dentists use in their offices such as latex. Unfavorable reactions to latex are triggered by particular proteins in the latex product. In reaction to these proteins, the body responds defensively to get rid of the foreign substance. Then antibodies are sent by the immune system to fight off the proteins. Certain chemicals such as histamine and others go into the circulatory system, which is what provokes an allergic reaction.
